About NewEU.
NewEU is an independent newsletter covering European politics with the editorial rigour the continent demands and the tabloid energy its stories deserve. We publish opinion, analysis, and editorial that cuts through Brussels jargon and national echo chambers.
Brussels — Est. 2024
Launched 2024. Independent. Fearless. European.
Editorial Philosophy
European politics is too often reported through national lenses — filtered by domestic agendas, softened by institutional access, or buried under the bureaucratic prose that Brussels produces in industrial quantities. NewEU exists because we believe readers deserve better than that.
We draw from two editorial traditions. From the tradition of serious political magazines, we take the commitment to long-form analysis, structural critique, and ideological honesty. From the tabloid press, we take the urgency, the directness, and the refusal to be boring. The result is a publication that treats the European Parliament with the same intensity a city desk brings to a corruption scandal.
We publish opinion pieces from contributors across the continent — academics, activists, former officials, and citizens who have something to say and the courage to say it plainly. Our editorials are written in-house and represent the voice of the publication. We do not pretend to be neutral. We are transparent about where we stand and rigorous about the evidence we cite.
NewEU is funded entirely by its readers. We carry no advertising, accept no institutional grants, and answer to no party. Our independence is not a marketing line — it is the condition that makes our journalism possible.
Our Pillars
Sharp Analysis
We dissect policy, legislation, and institutional manoeuvres with the precision they demand. No press-release rewrites.
Unfiltered Opinion
Contributors write what they think, not what institutions want to hear. Ideological clarity over false balance.
Institutional Clarity
We make the EU machinery legible to everyone — not just the Berlaymont insiders who already understand it.
We believe European politics deserves a voice that cuts through noise and speaks directly to readers who demand truth.
