FREQUENTLY ASKED
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
We want sharp, informed, provocative writing about European politics. That means rigorous analysis with a clear point of view, not neutral reportage. We favour pieces that challenge prevailing narratives in Brussels, Berlin, Paris, and beyond. If your argument makes someone in the European Quarter uncomfortable, we are probably interested.
DO I NEED TO BE A JOURNALIST?
No. We publish academics, policy advisors, former diplomats, civil society organisers, and engaged citizens. What matters is that you know your subject, can write clearly, and have something to say that advances the debate. We are less interested in credentials than in the quality of the argument.
CAN I PITCH BEFORE WRITING THE FULL PIECE?
Absolutely. Use the submission form with a working title, a one-paragraph summary in the manuscript field, and select the appropriate category. If we are interested, an editor will follow up within a week to discuss scope, angle, and deadline. Pitches save everyone time.
DO YOU PAY CONTRIBUTORS?
At this stage NewEU operates as an independent editorial project and cannot offer fees for contributions. What we do offer: a serious editorial process, a growing readership of policymakers and political observers, and a full byline with author bio. As the publication grows, paid commissions are the goal.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT?
Your submission enters our editorial queue. A staff editor reads every piece. If we want to move forward, you will hear from us within seven days with an acceptance and initial editorial notes. If the piece is not right for us, you will receive a brief response. We do not ghost contributors. Silence beyond two weeks means we missed something; email us a follow-up at editorial@neweu.press.
